Laser tattoo removal treatment at HA Laser Studio
At HA Laser, we know that tattoos don’t always feel as meaningful as they once did. We’re humans and we change our minds easily. The good news is that you’re not stuck with a decision you made years or even months ago.
We use advanced medical-grade laser technology, including the renowned Cynosure PicoSure tattoo removal laser, to safely and effectively break down tattoo ink over a course of treatments tailored to your skin. Whether you’re looking to completely remove an old design or fade it to make room for a new tattoo, our friendly, caring team is here to help you feel confident in your skin again.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Laser removal safely targets the pigment in the tattoo by applying intense pulses of laser light. The laser breaks down the ink into tiny particles, which, over time, your body naturally flushes out, causing the tattoo to fade.
Most tattoo removals take several treatments, spaced apart to allow your skin to heal and your body time to fully clear the ink particles. At HA Laser, we offer a fully tailored treatment plan, recommending the right tools, timeline, and a personalised aftercare plan to give you the best possible results.
You can book a consultation directly with one of our experienced laser practitioners.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
We hate to say it, but no method for removing a tattoo is entirely pain-free. But you likely went through a fair amount of pain to get the tattoo, and many of our clients say it’s about the same level of pain.
Some describe the feeling as having a rubber band repeatedly flicked against the skin, while others say it’s more like multiple sharp pinpricks or a warm, prickly sensation.
It can be uncomfortable, but we’re always understanding that different people have different pain tolerances. We offer a cooling spray and aloe vera gel to help calm your skin after treatment and equip you with vital aftercare instructions, which include applying SPF to protect the treated area.
We recommend 6-12 weeks between treatments to allow your skin to fully recover.
How long does it take to remove a tattoo with lasers?
Removing a tattoo is a gradual process. Most clients need multiple sessions, spaced at least 6–12 weeks apart, but the exact number depends on the size of your tattoo, how long you’ve had it, its colours, and how well your body responds.
During your consultation, we’ll recommend a treatment plan tailored to your skin and the type of tattoo you want removed and walk you through the entire treatment process.

Frequently asked questions about laser tattoo removal
Is laser tattoo removal safe?
Yes, our lasers are designed to target tattoo ink and leave the surrounding skin unharmed. At HA Laser, your safety comes first. We follow strict safety protocols and only use the most advanced technology to ensure you get optimal results with minimal risk.
Is laser tattoo removal suitable for my skin type?
Laser tattoo removal works well for most people, but certain skin tones and tattoos may require extra care. For example, darker skin tones can sometimes experience lightening in the treated area (known as hypopigmentation) if the treatment is done without expertise and high-quality equipment. We use advanced laser tools, including the PicoSure laser, and conduct a thorough assessment during your consultation to help us decide on the best tools and settings for your skin type.
Can all tattoo colours be removed?
We can remove most colours, but some tattoo pigments (like white, yellow, and green ink) are more difficult to treat and may require more sessions to reach your desired results. Black tattoos are one of the easier colours to remove as they absorb all laser wavelengths, making the ink break down quickly.
How soon can I remove a tattoo after getting it done?
If you’ve just got a tattoo and are instantly regretting your decision, you may already be thinking about removing it. We get it, it’s normal to feel unsure after something new, like a hairstyle or piercing, or in this case, a tattoo. But if you are absolutely sure you want to get rid of it, you must wait for your skin to heal fully before getting it removed. This usually takes around 6-8 weeks, but it can take up to 6 months for large or more complex tattoos.
How does laser treatment compare to other removal methods?
At HA Laser, we remove tattoos using medical-grade lasers because it’s generally the safest and most effective method. You may have heard of other removal methods, but we strongly advise against these due to their risk of scarring and infection.
Tattoo creams may cause slight fading, but they cannot completely remove a tattoo, and they can be very harsh on the skin and even cause burning, scarring, or reactions due to the chemicals they contain.
Dermabrasion and salabrasion are extremely harsh, painful, and outdated tattoo removal methods that use abrasive devices to sand down layers of the skin or scrub the skin using a rough salt and water mixture. We generally wouldn’t recommend this method of treatment due to the pain and risk associated with it, and it is unlikely to be available in most reputable clinics in the UK.
Acid tattoo removal is another aggressive and high-risk method that we (and many healthcare professionals) wouldn’t recommend.
